  2. Team you are a part of: BCYM Battle Creek Y Masters
  3. When did you start competitively swimming? Junior year in high school
  4. How long have you been in Michigan Masters? Since 1994 when I moved back to Michigan.  Prior to that I swam 10 years in Pennsylvania Masters
  5. What is your favorite swim event/race? 50 & 100 Breaststroke
  6. So far, what was your favorite Masters Swim Meet? 2009 Long Course Nationals at the Indianapolis pool.  It’s my favorite pool and as the young guy in the 55-59 age group, I broke two national records in the 50 &100 breaststroke.
  7. What is your favorite set? Fridays I love doing speed work.  The main set is 4 rounds of 8 x 25’s with an easy 100 in between rounds.  Each round gets more rest with send off intervals of :35, :40, :45, :50. The first round is free, and then I will vary which stroke I swim on the next three rounds because I also like to train for the 100IM.
  8. What is something you need to improve or are constantly working on in the pool? Swimming is a never ending quest to optimize propulsion and reduce drag. However, this is especially important for me at my age as I am working to try and regain the ability to kick breaststroke after my 4th knee surgery.
  9. What are your big swim goal(s)? See how close I can return to my pre-injury capabilities, while accepting the fact that whatever I can do will be for fitness and fun!
  10. Favorite swim Olympian? Rebecca Soni (Gold medalist first woman to break 2:20.00 in the 200LCM breaststroke at the 2008 Bejing Olympics, who shared breaststroke tips with me when I met her at work as a Kellogg’s sponsored athlete)
  11. What do you like to do outside the pool? Cycling, fast boats, building high performance stereo speakers
