2024 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships

Over Memorial Day weekend, May 24-26, 2024 – the Michigan Masters team of 53 swimmers crossed the border to swim at the 2024 Canadian Masters Swimming Championships. The team broke 47 individual State records and 13 relay records. In addition, Corrin Buck broke 2 USMS National records in the 50 and 100 breaststroke. Denise Brown was 7 for 7 national champion and 6 for 7 state records making her our TOP Michigan Masters Athlete!!!  As a team, we won 70 Gold medals, 53 silver and 47 Bronze. If we were allowed to score, Michigan Masters would have been National Champs… so job well done. Go team!! The last time Michigan Masters attended this meet was in 2014.

Attending their first national meet representing Michigan Masters was: Nicholas Rancilio, Dana Hunter, Mike Smith, Elise Dubois, Emily Gunderson, Luca Benetti, Kristen Adair, and Katie Glumpker.

Placing first, although from the USA, the following individuals were Canadian National Champions! To our surprise we got nice hardware and a National Champion patch. Our National Champions were: Gaard Arneson in 5 events, Jeff Bailey in 1 event, Ali Blondell in 3 events, Denise Brown in 7 events, Corrin Buck in 4 events, Lou Ann Dixon in 2 events, Joannie Eastridge in 2 events, Emily Gunderson in 2 events, Suzanne Harris in 1 event, Fares Ksebati in 1 event, Muffy MacKenzie in 3 events, Julie Master in 1 event, Thomas Melgar in 1 event, Laura Nathan in 1 event, Chuck Olson in 2 events, Kurt Olzmann in 4 events, Randy Parker in 4 events, Mike Schuldinger in 3 events, Chad Steed in 5 events, Wendy Szymczak in 3 events, and Sue Weir in 1 event.
