Michigan Masters takes 7th Place at Mission Viejo, CA – USMS Long Course Summer Nationals, in the Regional Club Division

The 2019 USMS Summer National Championships took place from August 7 to August 11, 2019 at the Margueite Aquatic Center in Mission Viejo, California. 1376 swimmers entered the meet from 216 Clubs. 25 USMS Individual Event and 10 USMS Relay National Records were set during the course of the meet. Michigan Masters placed 7thin the Regional Club division with 177 points with 6 swimmers (2 Women and 4 Men) Combined. The Men’s team placed 6thwith 100 points and the Women’s team placed 7thwith 77 points. Overall including Local Clubs, the team placed 30thout of 187 Clubs that scored.

Tony Anderson won all 4 events he entered and set State Records in the 100 Free, 200 Free, and 1500 Free. He was also the Michigan Masters Men’s High Point winner with 44 points. USMS published a story about Tony and his son who swam in the meet and they were reunited swimming the 1500 Free. Corrin Buck won two events (200 Breast and 200 IM) and was 2ndin her two other events (50 Breast and 100 Breast) and set State Records in all 5 of her events. Gaard Arneson placed 2ndin the 1500 Free setting a new State Record and placed in all 6 events he entered. Tamara Steil won her first USMS National Championship in the 400 IM and set a State Record in the 50 Breast. She also placed in 5 out of 6 events. Skip Thompson placed in 4 events and David Forgione placed in 3 events resulting in all 6 swimmers placing and scoring in their events.
