  • Team you are a part of: BKTS
  • When did you start competitively swimming? My first swim meet was in 2010, at age 56, and my first Masters swim meet was the 2012 State Meet in Lake Orion.
  • How long have you been in Michigan Masters? 2012 (12 years)
  • What is your favorite swim event/race? 50 and 100 free (I love the final 25)
  • So far, what was your favorite Masters Swim Meet? 2018 Short Course Nationals in Indianapolis. Many of my local teammates were there, and it was my first time being part of a Regional Club Championship Team.
  • What is your favorite set? FAST Friday which currently is 3 sets of 8×25@30/40/50 middle set is second stroke and breath control sets I don’t like breath control but the more I do the easier it gets. I try to work on the hard things now, which will make them easier when it counts in competition
  • What is something you need to improve or constantly working on in the pool? Underwaters and breath control
  • What are your big swim goal(s)? Outlive my competition; I say that jokingly, but I love the sport of swimming, and I love the friends I have made along the way. I hope that I can continue until I can’t.
  • Favorite swim Olympian? Dara Torres, I was enamored when Dara Torres competed in her 5th Olympics at the age of 41. Her age-defying athletic ability gave me the courage, after a long career of competitive tennis, to find a new sport at 56 and begin swimming competitively.
  • What do you like to do outside the pool? I love cooking and am currently in an online French Pastry School.  I also enjoy gardening and hanging out with my 9-year-old cat, Batman, and 18-year-old rescue dog, Holly.
