2017 FINA Masters World Championships
Michigan Masters had 5 swimmers attend the 17th FINA Masters World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary, August 7-20, 2017.
Denise Brown, Tamara Steel, Fares Ksebati, Erik Lokensgard and Tom Welsh. Erik Lokensgard, age 75, swimming in the 75-79 age-group had the best meet of his masters swimming career. Erik became a FINA World Champion taking 1st in the 400 IM and placing 2nd in the 200 Back, 200 Fly, and 200 IM. In his last event, he placed 3rd in the 100 Back. All of his times were Michigan LMSC State Records. Denise Brown, swimming in the 55-59 age-group managed to place in all 5 events she swam. Congratulations to all 5 swimmers that made the trip and swam.
