At the 2016 Rio Games\, he won bronze in the 100-meter breaststroke and gold in the 4×100-meter medley relay alongside Michael Phelps. Despite being born with pectus excavatum\, a chest deformity that limited his lung capacity\, Miller turned to swimming as a way to strengthen his body and found his lifelong passion. He rose to prominence at Indiana University\, where he became a multiple-time Big Ten champion and the school’s first U.S. Olympian swimmer in four decades. At the 2016 Rio Olympics\, Miller captured a bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke\, setting an American record\, and won gold in the 4×100-meter medley relay\, helping Team USA set an Olympic record alongside Ryan Murphy\, Michael Phelps\, and Nathan Adrian.
